The Challenge

Maybrey Precision Castings manufactures precision aluminium castings for customers in the aerospace industry, where quality, consistency and full traceability are essential.

Aerospace components are manufactured under some of the most demanding quality standards in the world. Every casting must comply with the requirements of AS9100, ensuring complete process control, material verification and documented traceability throughout manufacture.

Every stage of production must be fully recorded, with each operation verified before the component progresses to the next process. In addition to dimensional accuracy and casting quality, every batch of metal must demonstrate both the correct chemical composition and the mechanical properties specified for the application.

Our Solution

Operating within our AS9100 quality management system, every aerospace casting is manufactured under strict process controls designed to give complete confidence in every component we produce.

Each casting is accompanied by a Route Card, providing full traceability throughout manufacture. Every production stage is individually signed off, creating a documented record of the component's journey from raw material through to the finished casting.

To verify the integrity of the aluminium alloy, we manufacture dedicated test bars alongside production castings. These are subjected to tensile testing and Brinell hardness testing to confirm that the material achieves the specified mechanical properties required for aerospace applications.

At the same time, a sample coin is cast from every melt and analysed using our spectrometers to verify that the chemical composition of the alloy conforms precisely to the required material specification before production is accepted.

This combination of documented process control, mechanical testing and chemical analysis provides complete confidence that every casting meets the exacting standards demanded by the aerospace industry.
